225: The High Episode

Lulu loves the way her cold medicine makes her sleep. Zzzzzzz

Alison is now obsessed with this sparkling water drink her husband introduced to her! It’s murdering her thirst! Liquid Death

Lulu wishes that shipping notifications wouldn’t be sent to her until they are actually LIVE and ready to be used.

As new luggage has been a longtime wishlist item for Lulu, Alison is now on the same train! Oh, how we wish Away Travel would provide us some of their quality luggage so we could be brand ambassadors!

Choosing a city in exactly the way Lulu predicted, Alison chose a great city to get ‘high’ in! And that is Portland, Oregon. She stayed at the Jupiter Hotel where she opted for the 420 package, of course! She got the Corner King Suite that includes: “Some things in life are meant to be extra. Extra large. Extra good. Oversized windows - be the voyeur, watch the city. Bar space for cocktail-mixing or drinking whatever you please. Convertible sofa for more sleeping space. Desk for writing love letters or business reports. Because you deserve all of that, and then some. Spectacular city views, 60 inch flat screen tv, in-room electronic concierge and music streaming device, high speed wifi, mini-fridge, chalkboard doors to unleash your inner genius. Your comfort zone in the middle of it all.”

Of course she had to get some of the great add-on options like the Instax PDX pkg. that “includes the use of a Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 Camera, two 10-photo packs of Instax polaroid film, a Jupiter Hotel merch item, a map of Instagrammable spots in Portland, and a four-pack of PNW craft beer.” Get your own famous Voodoo Dozen pink box! Breakfast on the go with a maple bacon bar, Captain Crunch & more. And she popped 2 bottles of bubbly & Fresh Flowers into her pkg. as well.

“Jupiter Hotel is proud to bring the first cannabis-friendly package to Oregon. We’ve partnered with Oregrown for a “ legally awesome ” #Portland experience that gives our guests an insider’s look at Oregon’s legal cannabis industry.”

"Everything but the Weed Kit" includes:

• Discount voucher for in-store use

• Oregrown Stash Jar

• Custom Engraved Pax Era Battery (visit to the Oregrown store required for engraving)

• Oregrown Sticker Pack

• Oregrown Rolling Papers

• Oregrown Hat

WEEDMAPS  "High Portland" t-shirt (retail cost $20)

As if that wasn’t enough, she was off to Electric Lettuce to spend $500 on some of the staff picks. As you can imagine…there is no earthly way Alison could use all this stash in 2 days, but hey…it’s fantasy, right?

Munchies abounding, she went to the Waffle Window for some Sachertorte Waffle and Brisket Benedict. Full as an Oregon tick, she went on to the Freakybuttrue Peculiarium to see the “weird, creepy, rare, and just plain gross.” But, don’t be turned off by that! They let you come in costume AND you can bring your pet! So, Alison snagged a gorgeous Crimson Red Feather Dress on Etsy for 1/2 her 10K budget! At a girl!!

The rest of her day was filled out with an Underground Donut Tour, which got her to the front of the most popular donut lines, Cannabis Culture Guided Bike Tour where she could “Ride through Portland’s funky Eastside neighborhoods and feel immersed in the city’s unique cannabis culture. With your guide, browse and shop for the finest locally-grown and organic strains, as well as hand-blown art glass and carved wooden pipes.” Then dinner was at Le Pigeon where they require prepayment for our 5 course tasting menu, so that gave her the bright idea (was it the cost or the pot?) to fly Lulu out to join her where she promptly gave her some budget to spend at the Electric Lettuce as well! Well done, ladies!

Lulu chose the 10th highest location in the world, and that is Puebla, Mexico. There she stayed at the Andante Hotel where they theme each room based on a famous composer and fill the room with glorious art work by a local artist. Lulu stayed in the Holst room which was filled with work by Martin Pilgrim. Breakfast was at Tagers which looked to have a tasty mexican food and other normal breakfast fare.

Post breakfast came a visit to the most famous bar in Puebla, La Pasita. Pasita is a raisin-flavored liqueur, served with a skewered cube of fresh goat’s milk cheese and a soaked raisin. Some say that beverage was at first ordered according to how many blocks a drinker could walk after consuming a certain amount of the booze (e.g., “Two blocks of pasita please!”). And since she’d be walking a bit wobbly from the Pasita, she purchased some stable SAS shoes to keep her upright. And if that wasn’t enough, she purchased a 19th century Victorian gold-topped cane for some extra stability.

Exclusive to Puebla, Talavera Tile was something she just couldn’t leave home without. So she got 800 mixed tiles, Plates and other smaller items plus some Uriarte Talavera items personally engraved for presents. Lunch was at Augurio, where she had the same problem she always has at a mexican restaurant…too many choices, but this time they were all in Spanish.

Post lunch was a hip and a hop to the Palafoxian Library, the oldest library in the Americas! How cool is that!? After such an amazing adventure, she had dinner at El Mural de los Poblanos, where the “pictorial work that gives our restaurant its name is by Antonio Álvarez Morán. It reflects more than characters that have shaped the history of Puebla.”

After an annual pediatric check up for both her children, Alison is so happy both her kids are healthy!

Lulu is happy she found some low sugar milk that she likes! I’m betting it’s oat milk, how ‘bout you?
