The 10K ladies rocking the fun-loving crowd of podcasters at the Amalie Arena in Tampa for Podfest Origins 2021!

Another great review on Apple Podcasts! 5 star rating!!

“The friends you wish you had: These two are so cool and funny. But the magic is in their natural banter. They are immediately likable and you’ll wish they were your besties bringing over the wine on a Wednesday…”

We have a new segment Whiskey, Water & Wine! Check it out on our YouTube channel!

Have you checked out our other podcast, The Daily Happy? AND WAIT FOR IT…..

We now have a website for our web series, Live from [Blank]! Check out our latest episode from Kansas, Missouri, and follow along! And if you’re up for a great laugh, watch Lulu and Alison on their Curateur Unboxing video.

Alison’s obsessed with a toothbrush sanitizer that her mother has and loves. It’s called, Bril and it’s not only portable, but it kills up to 99.9% of germs on your toothbrush!

A recurring obsession for Lulu is Wendy’s Cold Brew. And in true 10K LIVE show style, Alison surprised Lulu as she insisted they sing their Wendy’s Cold Brew jingle they made up on the fly in the van on their driveway tour. The crowd LOVED it!

Our gal, Lulu always knows who her crowd is and wished out loud that we knew how to find sponsors for the podcast. Ata girl, puttin’ it out there in the Universe, sister!

All Alison could wish for at that moment in the freezing cold Amalie Arena was a blanket and some hand warmers! Yeah, we didn’t really know it was an ice hockey arena, but the ladies sure did get an education about what degrees it has to be to freeze water! I thought I loved 10K Math, but now it’s a tie with 10K Science!

One of the fun parts of not revealing which city they’ve chosen until they record is when the ladies choose similar places or themes. This week both Alison and Lulu chose ‘celebrity’ themed cities! And Alison chose Sussex, England where her 10K day is based on that cuddly wise bear that we all love…Winnie the Pooh! It is in honor of this being the 95th Anniversary of Winnie the Pooh stories. She chose a Winnie the Pooh inspired Airbnb in the “Hundred Acre Wood” (Ashdown Forest) for her 10K day. The house is built with exposed tree branches wrapped around the doorway with ‘Mr. Sanders’ inscribed above. And the whole identity of ‘Mr. Sanders’ became its very own debate between Alison, Lulu and the crowd. I guess I never really thought about who he was until now! Thanks, ladies! Another fun part of the house is that if guests take a peek inside kitchen cupboards, they’ll find shelves stocked full of ‘hunny’ pots!

The home’s host is Kim who has been creating art for over 40 years, initially for The Walt Disney Company, then for British comics, and then, back again for Disney, where she worked for more than 30 years. Completely themed, the guests will be taken on a guided tour through the original Hundred Acre Wood, and can play Poohsticks on the iconic Poohsticks Bridge! Yup, it’s a real game! Click Poohsticks to see how to play it. You also enjoy 24-hr. security, hunny-based meals and plenty of yoga mats, journals and throws for your comfort.

Since Alison booked this in ‘off-season’, the usual temporary restroom isn’t available, so she went total 10K and rented a Luxury Toilette to take care of all her personal hygiene needs. No toilet roll on a branch for her; this is a 10K day! Breakfast was also themed at Pooh Corner, an adorable Pooh-themed cafe. There she partook of the Smackerals (Teddy Bear toast) and then promptly moved on to Afternoon Tea! Pooh would be so proud!

Patting her belly like Pooh, she meandered over to visit the Long Man of Wilmington, Europe’s largest portrayal of the human form, dating back to at least 1710. To find out more about the man, she gets a lifetime membership to the Sussex Archaeological Society. All that adventure had her feeling a bit like some relaxation at Popping Hole Farms & Cottages for a Gold Spa Day! She went for a breathtaking 40-minute helicopter tour over Brighton and Shoreham down the historic south coast, passing over the rolling countryside of Surrey on Helifly before popping in a Black Lane car to arrive in style for a luxurious dinner at The Lecture Room at Sketch. At this three Michelin star restaurant, she enjoyed the Special Treat menu, featuring eight courses of sublime dishes, accompanied by eight prestigious wines.

After dinner, Alison had big plans to do a photo shoot with her new iPhone 13 in the Pooh House. But, stuffed animals wouldn’t be 10K enough for her, so she rented an actual bear for the shoot! After the bear and she parted ways, she settled in for a cozy night in the house with a blanket (with a map of Sussex on it), and a full bottle of Chateau D'Yquem Sauternes, 2016, a very expensive honey wine. I think Pooh would approve of her day!

This is the 2nd week in a row where Alison and Lulu chose similar themed days! This week, Lulu got her ‘James Bond’ on and went to Oracabessa, Jamaica, where she spent the majority of her budget on her stay at Bond creator, Ian Fleming’s Villa at Goldeneye resort. Oracabessa has been host to countless celebrities over the years, and its most famous resident was Bob Marley, who owned the Golden Eye estate in the 1970s. Golden Eye's neighbor, Golden Clouds, has a long list of famous guests who have been frequenting the estate for over 100 years. One of Golden Clouds earliest guests was Charlie Chaplin, who referred to it as "like no place on earth, simply paradise". These two legendary properties are a major part of Oracabessa's history and international reputation.

Fleming Villa sleeps up to 10 people. There are three bedrooms, each with tropical garden baths, in the main villa and two standalone guest cottages: Sweet Spot and Pool House. And Lulu chose the Market Plan where she can discuss her meal plan with the chef before she arrives! This next amenity sparked a whole fun discussion about what the Top 5 foods to eat in the bath tub are. “Your housekeeper will arrange for meals to be served wherever you’d like on the property (two favorite choices: between the two almond trees in the sunken garden or on the beach, where there’s a grill chiseled into the side of the rocky cliff.)”

If you know our Lulu, you know she likes to go ‘all in’ with her research, so buckle up on this one! She may have blown the majority of her 10K on this amazing resort, but she surely found some creative ways to honor Ian Fleming's life and creative brand with the rest of the money! He was a commander during WWII, and ran intelligence operations where he dealt with many spies. One operation Commander Fleming oversaw was codenamed GoldenEye. Like many writers, Fleming had a thing about names. Once he found his refuge at Oracabessa (Golden Head), he named his new home GoldenEye — in tribute to that wartime intelligence operation. So, Lulu decided to honor him by getting a Spanish tutor from Verbling so she could learn Spanish on this trip (I told you to buckle up!) She said it was something about learning Spanish so she could spy on…yeah, I couldn’t follow it, but it’s hilarious!

She couldn’t just be at the Fleming villa without Bond-themed underscoring, now could she? Again, buckle up for this one. She bought the Soundcue App and then an iTunes Gift Card so she could play the music as she did things at the villa. And she figured she could pay one of the smart podcasters at Podfest to teach her how to get the iTunes music on the app. Yeah, I’m still doing a head shake on that one.

Another famous person who made Ocasabessa their home was the famous composer, Noël Coward. Lulu went to visit his villa, Firefly. It was when Noël was staying at Fleming’s Goldeneye that he fell in love with the area and decided to buy his own home farther along the coast. It quickly became a Mecca for Coward’s friends and the post-war ‘celebrity set’ of stage and screen. She wasn’t sure if this would actually be a possibility to visit here, but Lulu lucked out because, “Noël Coward passed away in 1973 and was buried in the garden on the property. Today, the property is owned and managed by Chris Blackwell of Island Outpost, whose mother was good friends with Coward. Firefly is open to the public for tours where one will be able to view the picture gallery, house and garden.”
