AND WAIT FOR IT…..

We now have a website for our web series, Live from [Blank]! Check out our latest episode from Kansas, Missouri, and follow along! And if you’re up for a great laugh, watch Lulu and Alison on their Curateur Unboxing video!

Alison is obsessed with her very ‘upscale’ looking sunglasses that only cost her around $40!! Watch the companion video to this episode to see them IRL! (that means ‘in real life’ for all of us old folks out there!)

Lulu is a woman after my own heart as she is obsessed with soup! North or South, Winter or Summer…SOUP RULES!

Sweaty nights in fancy shorts and camisoles make it difficult as far as laundry goes, so Alison is getting annoyed because she can’t wear them more than one night in a row. So, she’s wishing for 7, or heck, let’s go for 14 sets of sleepwear so she can wear them once and wash them. If she’s in a bind, podcast t-shirts work well too, tho! Thanks, Buzzsprout!

Our sweet Hufflepuff, Lulu is wishful for performers to know when a ‘last show’ is going to happen. It’s a sad reality in this business of entertainment that sometimes shows unexpectedly close or someone ends up not coming back to a show and you may feel robbed of enjoying that ‘last show together’ moment. But, now with many Broadway closing or taking long breaks due to Covid, this is a stressful and emotional time for performers.

The layer of Atmosphere closest to Earth's surface is the troposphere, and the troposphere is thickest at the equator. So, the place Alison chose this week sits on the equator. Kiribati! It’s an “incredibly remote tiny nation in the central Pacific Ocean - made up of 33 coral atolls, most of which are uninhabited, floats nearly all alone in the middle of the Pacific. Its deserted feel and lack of tourist facilities make it ideal for serious divers, anglers, and bird watchers!” It only receives approx. 6000 visitors a year, so Lulu thinks this would be a great 10K Baes vaca!

She stayed at The George Hotel, which has a great blend of Kiribati, Asian and Western settings. She opted for a breakfast for $9 then, seeing as she’s accumulated plenty of imaginary diving gear over the last 4 years of imaginary travel, she went on a diving trip! And since the waters are so crystal clear, she wanted to document all the underwater magic with her SeaLife Micro 3.0 Underwater Camera & Pro Duo 5000 Light Set.

Once she saw all the fish, it was time to GO fishing! Did you realize the difference between being an angler and a fisher? An angler does it for sport and a fisher does it for food. After a healthy debate on ‘catch and release’ that went a little off tide, Alison mentioned a really cute YouTube video where a little girl is clutching a live fish and telling it that ‘it’s alright…’. Super cute, so check it out.

Another amazing bit of nature that Kiribati offers is Bird Watching. And for that you’ll need some good Binoculars to see all the wondrous aviary sightings on the island. All these nature adventures built up quite the appetite, so Alison chose to ‘go native’ and spend some time with the locals by visiting the traditional village in North Tarawa where she ate dinner & learned traditional skills like weaving and coconut husking. Just WAIT ‘til you hear the debate between Lulu and Alison about whether a coconut is an actual ‘nut’.

And, because she could fit it into the budget, Alison brought Lulu on this adventure with her! Gotta love a bestie trip!

With the 10K week’s word of Atmosphere in mind, Lulu picked Corning, New York, which is ranked as one of the top 10 least polluted cities in the country and “America’s most fun small town!” We all know how much Lulu loves an imaginary jacuzzi suite, so that is just what she booked at Villa Bernese and then enjoyed a re-emerged waffle at Jelly Beans Restaurant. Not sure why the waffle took a ‘hiatus’ but she was up for a waffley treat to start her day!

Lulu bought out the Corning Museum of Glass Class and boy, did that lead to a rabbit hole convo of glass blowing do’s and don’ts! Since Lulu felt she had used up all her glass museum karma by officiating her sister’s wedding at the Chihuly Museum, she opted to wear some Cole Hahn Sylvia Wedges and hire a local artist to texturize the floor with a Fixall skid grip anti-slip paint. A huge visual art lover, Lulu couldn’t just have someone paint the floor one color; she had to hire a talented local painter to paint a mural on the floor! So, she chose David Higgins, whose paintings range from $500-5000 at West End Gallery, but once taught an art history course at the Hahn’s Disease Research Center in Carville, LA, the last existing leprosarium in the continental United States! Yup, that’s lepers, folks!

For lunch she dined at Hand and Foot Restaurant. And, although not a fan of the restaurant name, Lulu did like that the establishment was named after a card game that the family who owned the restaurant had been playing for generations! They even have it all explained, rules and all on the menu! But, if you’re into cards, buckle up and read the 3 page PDF about the rules and bring your own deck.

Lulu then moved on to the West End Gallery where she purchased many jewelry delights by San Fortune and a beautiful wooden table by Tracy Fiegl. Then she moved on to Pixie Moss Meadows for some pixie and succulent magic! The artist says, “I am a succulent grower and artisan. My passion is creating whimsical gardens with succulents and cactus. I can create the tiniest of gardens in a vessel so small they can not hold much more than pixie dust. To grand elegant gardens for your magical day. As a little girl my Grandma inspired my imagination with stories of magical fairies and whimsical gnomes that played in the trees. I have carried that in my heart to this day with my own children, and I place that same magic in every garden I create. Our gardens take you back to that magic of your childhood.”

Dinner was at Three Birds Restaurant for a meal filled with seafood, lamb and cocktails and that was the end of Lulu’s 10K day!

I’m with Alison on this Happy! She is happy about enjoying banana peppers on ANYTHING! They’re fun on sandwiches, on pizza or even just by themself!

Lulu is happy about her Mom’s delicious Philippine dessert, Ginataang. It looks yummers!
