Bilbao, Spain + Leavenworth, Washington: Blame it all on the nutcracker!

THANK YOU, PODFEST ORIGINS FOR A GREAT CONVENTION!

The ladies WOW’d the podcasters at the closing show at Podfest Origins at the Amalie Arena in Tampa last week!

Another great review on Apple Podcasts! 5 star rating!!

“The friends you wish you had: These two are so cool and funny. But the magic is in their natural banter. They are immediately likable and you’ll wish they were your besties bringing over the wine on a Wednesday…”

AND WAIT FOR IT…..

We now have a website for our web series, Live from [Blank]! Check out our latest episode from Kansas, Missouri, and follow along! And if you’re up for a great laugh, watch Lulu and Alison on their Curateur Unboxing video!

We have a new segment COMING SOON! So, keep an eye out for it on our YouTube channel!

Alison has been so obsessed with watching Manifest on Netflix that she has to keep reminding herself to do normal things like…feed her kids. You know, the usual.

Lulu is obsessed with Pilars Martini bar on Plant St. in Winter Garden, FL where you can get amazing drinks inspired by the world travels by owner, Becky Roper. Check out our newest segment called Whiskey, Water & Wine that airs on our YouTube channel Nov. 12th! Becky taught us all about some fine whiskeys and bubbly!!

All that obsession with Manifest has ‘manifested’ Alison’s wishlist into reality! She was wishing for belts and Target had a sale on them, so she got a black and brown one. Way to make that dream come true, Ali!

Although our Hufflepuff girl is good at sharing, she’d love to have her own rental car on her latest gig so she wouldn’t have to think about whether she’s using it too much or not.

Lulu got me all excited about her trip to Bilbao, Spain where she stayed at the Gran Hotel Domine solely based on the luxury and view of the Guggenheim, but THEN I looked at the map at saw the word, Puppy!!!! Soooo, I just HAD to look it up and there is a 43-foot flower-covered West Highland terrier by Jeff Koons guarding the Guggenheim since 1992!!!! Now, I HAVE to go there! Ok, back to Lulu’s day. She stayed in the Premier suite with terrace and a bathtub by French industrial designer, Philippe Starck with a rain effect shower on the side.

Just a quick stop at LaRibera Market for some fruit before getting her ‘art’ on at the Guggenheim. Now, click the link for the market and scroll down to see my favorite part. They have cute little buttons to highlight all the categories of food they have, like Fruits/Vegetables, Bakery and my personal favorite, Champignons, mushrooms and mushrooms. Yup, they’re so tasty, you have to mention them twice!

All that culture made her hungry, so she had a very delicious full-out lunch of food and wine from the ‘fancy menu’ at Nerua, which is right there in the Guggenheim. Her lunch may or may not have included a hand pie…someone, anyone…please tell me what a hand pie is! Hunger sated and feeling Basquian, Lulu purchased a stylish Basque beret online to wear as she drinks out of her new Porron wine pitcher. I’m always up for an adventure, but I can tell you right now that even stone cold sober, I would be covered in wine if I tried to drink from a porron!

Speaking of adventure, Lulu decided to bring longtime friend and 10K bae, Jacob McAlister on the next part of her 10K day. Now, Jacob is way more than just a 10K bae…he’s the uber talented designer of our 10K logo!!! She took him to Rioja country to try the Rioja Gran Reserva 2011 which is described as “big, sensual and voluptuous.” She got them both their own bottle and porron ‘cuz, you know…Covid.

Then it was on to Bilbo Games to check out all the fun board games. It’s no shocker why Lulu chose Jacob to accompany her, as he was the designer for Disney’s Jungle Cruise Adventure Game! You can get it at Target for only $29.99 and you will LOVE his art work!! Serious gamers as they are, these two limited their intake to just fancy chips and water. And when I say ‘fancy chips’, I mean excruciatingly over-priced chips and popcorn. AND the chips come in their own individually sectioned boxes! No small chips at the bottom of the bag for St. Erik , the makers of the most expensive potato chip in the world, rounding in at $11/chip or $55/box. They are made of Matsutake, Truffle Seaweed, Crown Dill, Leksand Onion, and Ammarnäs Potatoes. To chase that down, she got some Billion dollar popcorn, which costs $5/kernel. Yes, I said KERNEL!

Ok, I’ll stop snubbing expensive snack foods and move on. Since Lulu had a talented artist on hand, she bought Poster Board, Sharpies and consulted with Carol of Vintage Buttons so they could make their own board game!

Who’s feeling festive!? Wanna go to Germany for the holidays but can’t go overseas? Well, Leavenworth, Washington is the closest you can get to Germany without actually going there! A big draw to Leavenworth is the many festivals that take place amid the Bavarian architecture. A different city celebration occurs every month, from the Bavarian Ice Fest in January to the Christmas Lighting Festival in December.

Although Alison found that Leavenworth has many affordable options for accommodations, she had to go full throttle 10K! She stayed at an Airbnb that cost almost 1/2 of her 10K budget! It’s called ‘The Lodge’ and it is a 4300 square foot, 3-level, modern luxury home where the beach and private dock are easily accessed within a few steps from the covered patio.

To pay homage to the usual way we travel (on the cheap), Alison had the ‘Starving Artist’ breakfast filled with carbs and cheese at The Renaissance Cafe. Although they aren’t quite as creepy as regular dolls, a room filled with nutcrackers might make me feel a bit uneasy, but not Alison! She dropped by the Nutcracker Museum filled with over 7,000 wooden, mechanical, plastic, and metal culinary tools designed to crack open nuts. Inspired by all the nut cracking goodness, she decided she just HAD to have an Ultra Premium Swarovski Nutcracker, again costing almost half of her 10K budget!

Happy with her new blingy nutcracker, she decided to do a little skiing at Stevenspass, have lunch off the ‘fancy menu’ at Watershed Cafe and cap out her Leavenworth adventure at München Haus for some sausage and beers! I don’t know if anyone else enjoys how Alison mispronounces things as much as I do, but I actually did a spit take (thankfully not on my computer!) when she made this Munich-themed restaurant sound like a mental disorder where a person makes themselves ill for the attention. Another 2 solid 10K days in the bag, baby!

Alison usually takes a walk by the water in the morning, but today she walked at the botanical garden and loved it!

Lulu is happy because of the true friendship and support she got from sharing her feelings with a close group of friends.
