North Hampton, New Hampshire + Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Hey, check out The Daily Happy - our daily 10 minute catch up session that reflects our #whatsyourhappy affirmation - there is something to be happy about every day, and while we are not here for ignoring the world around us, we are here for bringing the inspiration and the joy! In other news, we now have a website for our forthcoming web series, Live from [Blank]! Check it out as well as our youtube short videos, pretty please!

Alison is obsessed with Uncharted, Gordon Ramsey’s National Geographic show where he cooks in remote places. She’s been obsessed with Gordon Ramsey for years, and this show specifically was already an obsession of hers a few months ago. Lulu’s obsession is also food related, she is currently obsessed with big, soft pretzels. She is finding them on the menu of every restaurant she visits while working in Cleveland.

Alison is wishing for laser hair removal on her legs. With summer coming up the constant need to shave her legs is such a burden of impending doom. Contrarily, Lulu enjoys personal care hygiene rituals because she finds them quite meditative. Maybe Alison will try to see it like that, until she can afford the laser hair removal, that is.

Lulu is wishing for a kitchen in her hotel room. She’s in Cleveland for three weeks, and that length of time without a stove means more money spent on food out or overuse of microwaveable foods, which get old real quick.

10K Dollar Day in North Hampton, New Hampshire #uniquetravel #luxurytravel #travleblog #travelpodcast #travelcomedy

Alison is headed to North Hampton, New Hampshire… not to be confused with The Hamptons, the go-to summertime getaway of suave New Yorkers romanticized in literature, television and film. North Hampton is a small town known for its caring community and coastline.

Alison found the most picturesque place to spend some time. This 7,000 square foot villa on Airbnb is located on 10 acres of land! 6 bedrooms, several living rooms, an indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna, and a movie theater room! Outdoor dining areas, hiking trails, and a lake, oh my! This spacious spot has lots of room to stretch out, and makes a perfect retreat for family reunions or weekends with friends!

Alison is off to smell the roses, and then some, at Fuller Gardens. A delightful display of flora enticing all the senses, this place is one of the last working formal estate gardens, and they put on an annual summertime garden party! Alison decides to become a patron of the garden so that she can score tickets to this event!

Next is a hop over to the nearby town of Portsmouth to meander through the Museum of Dumb Guy Stuff. This is a basement in someone’s house with G.I. Joes, comic book action figures, model trains, and other such traditionally stereotypically “guy” things, displayed like museum exhibits.

Next Alison decides to go to flight school! For around $4,000 you can learn to fly a plane! Her visit to the Hampton Airfield will hopefully lead to her getting a Sport Pilot license, any takers for the one passenger she’s allowed to carry? After her intro lesson, she’s feeling famished. Luckily they have a cafe on site where you can “refuel”. We love a good pun. And a good lunch.

For dinner Alison heads to Martingale Wharf. She is in for a treat, and a feat, with her consumption of their seafood tower. It comes with a dozen oysters, eight cocktail shrimp, chilled one pound lobster, tuna tartare, scallop ceviche, and the appropriate culinary accoutrement. This monstrosity of a meal comes in at a whopping $110 USD. Hope she’s hungry!

10K Dollar Day in Milwaukee, Wisconsin #uniquetravel #luxurytravel #travleblog #travelpodcast #travelcomedy

Combining the uniqueness and luxury you’ve come to expect from us here at 10K Dollar Day, Lulu begins her day in Milwaukee with a stay at The Journeyman, a Kimpton boutique hotel in the art-centric Third Ward neighborhood. instagram-worthy design and top tier service combine in this unique spot. You may never want to leave the rooftop bar or the pool table in the “living room”. They offer DRYBAR hair styling tools in all of the suites and by request for all guests, which is a huge perk to those who travel a lot and don’t want to cart a hair dryer and styling tools around. Lulu is staying in the King Spa Room, whose glamorous oversized soaking tub, luxury Atelier Bloem amenities, and Frette linens have her s-w-o-o-n-i-n-g. Obviously she adds the chocolate and champagne nightly delivery option to her booking.

Lulu starts her day with a bit of breakfast and some intriguing local history. While enjoying a ham biscuit and salted caramel pie at HoneyPie, Lulu educates herself on the history of the Kingdom of Talossa, a micro-nation in the state of Milwaukee with a heartwarming origin story followed by a peculiar trajectory. Lulu is totally here for this local fare and local flair. Especially fond of a clever bit, Lulu is going to send one of HoneyPie’s pie-grams to the 3rd and 14th persons to send her a text that day.

Lulu is heading to the Harley Davidson Museum to learn all about the beloved bike, and see the over 450 count collection, including the oldest known Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Ready for some lunch, Lulu leaned in to this 9 Restaurants in Milwaukee to Get Mexican Food That Will Blow Your Mind article. She is going to get an order of nachos for everyone in each restaurant, creating her own miniature Milwaukee Mexican Food Festival. We’re liking the vibes of both Cafe Corazon for its aesthetic or Mr. Senor’s for its name redundancy.

Next up is a baseball game, but if you’re thinking MLB, you are “udderly wrong”. Lulu is going to see the Milwaukee Milkmen play, an independent professional baseball organization, whose games are all about family fun and entertainment, and more than a few milk and cow puns. To get into the spirit, Lulu goes to the game dressed in this It’s gonna be legen-dairy shirt, these cow print straight leg jeans, some Simon Miller cow heels, and carries this “I just freaking love cows. Ok?” mug. We feel like she was this close to donning a vintage “got milk?” sandwich board. Instead she decides to channel that energy into hosting a player in her home.

Lulu’s late afternoon is spent taking a cheese-making tour at Clock Shadow Creamery, joining a cheese-of-the-month club at Wisconsin Cheese Mart, and taking in a sunset from the river with Milwaukee Kayak Tours

For dinner Lulu is heading to fine dining establishment Sanford Restaurant, which only recently will have opened post-Covid. She plans to delight in all of their delicacies!

For an espionage-themed nightcap, Lulu heads to Milwaukee nightlife highlight Safehouse, where you need a password to get in and you can order cocktails like “Mission Impossible”, “Off-The-Grid”, and “Spy’s Demise”. Oh, and if you don;t know the password, you can get in if you do a dance that is braodcast on a screen inside… apparently. So that’s cool!
